Wuppertal/ Germany is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany. Situated in and around the Wupper valley (German: „Tal“), Wuppertal is understood for its „Schwebebahn“. This unusual train construction is a suspension monorail dating from 1901. At the time of tape-recording the Schwebebahn just ran when a week on public holidays, the tracks are still noticeable all around the city.
We start our strolling excursion of Wuppertal at the train terminal which lies at the southerly city facility. We stroll via the new train terminal square northwards, crossing the Wupper river towards the city center with many stores. After a couple of minutes we are already at the Karlsplatz with the city center (Rathaus).
From there we see some side road, the Rathaus Galerie purchasing mall and a lot more of the city.
We get to the northern part of the center passing the „Haus der Jugend Elberfeld“ around half way via our walk with great deals of graffiti around there, head back to the central city on our means east.
Our scenic tour continues towards the area of Ostersbaum, where the arboretum lies. On that wonderful day we get to first the St. Marien church. Soon we continue uphill to the Hardt-Anlagen to reach the Botanical Gardens where we finish our Wuppertal strolling scenic tour.
